The OurMumuDonDo Movement has announced its plans to begin a daily sit-in on Tuesday, October 17 over the rampant corruption in President Muhammadu Bruhari's administration.
The group is demanding that President Buhari take action against officials in his administration who have been accused of corruption and mismanagement of public funds since taking office.
Among other examples, the group called attention to Ibe Kachikwu’s letter to Mr. Buhari alleging that the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru, had entered into contracts worth $26 billion without following due process.
The movement pointed out other high-profile corruption cases that have surfaced over the past two years, including the $43m found in an Ikoyi apartment hidden by the suspended director of the National Intelligence Agency.
Other cases mentioned by the group include the mismanagement of funds for internally displaced persons in the North-East by the suspended Secretary General of the Federation, Babachir Lawal; Senator Isah Missau’s allegation of bribery against the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris; and allegations of corrupt enrichment to the tune of N40bn against the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Kayode Fayemi.
